Not too worried about which year the photos come from, so long as they were taken in October, etc. This one was taken on the beach at Madison, Connecticut. It was about my third day back from Afghanistan, and Lucrezia had come to visit me from San Francisco. We stayed in the amazing old Madison Beach Hotel. I got up early one morning to a dawn of such amazing serenity and crisp New-England-ness, had to take this photo.
